End of the year!

As the school year comes to an end, I would really like to thank all of my students for their great work and enthusiasm. You should be proud of what we have accomplished this year and all the projects are heading into their "summer" mode. The chicks will go into the new chicken coop this week, the tomatoes are blossoming, we have cucumbers ready to harvest when your parents arrive, we have harvested several weeks worth of greens, , pok choy is about ready to come to the kitchen for lunch, all the beading plants are ready to go in the freshly prepared garden and we planted summer wheat with Mr. C's ancient history class so that next fall the new freshman will experience what it was like to harvest and process wheat in Mesopotamia. A special thank you to Rae Lewis for her dedication and energy this year. This couldn't have been done without you. In addition, Mike Harrier, thanks for all the work with the kids on the 'coop! Please share this blog if you know of other schools that are looking at doing a similar project.

CHICKENS ARE HERE

The Chickens Are Here!!


This Morning on May 9th, 2012.

12 Buff Orpington Pullets 
13 Silver Wyandotte Pullets  


The Green House class is very excited about our chicken arrival.  The chicken coop is still not finished but its getting very close.  All  day today the chickens were kept in the chemistry room in a box under a heat lamp.  They are going to be transferred into the green house this afternoon while the chicken coop is being finished.

Travis
      1.       Because I like to build stuff and I thought I would learn a lot from it.
      2.       Because it is outside and it involves being outside and being with animals and giving animals a home and best of all I love eating chickens.
        3.       Because they taste good and they are very fun to mess with

      1.       Because I like more hands on stuff.
       2.       Because I have a lot of experience building stuff and I also like to work with my hands and I like chickens.
        3.       Because they are cool animals and they are also fun to be around.
